Happy New Year - Time for Resolutions!
Welcome 2010!
I'd like to say I accomplished a lot last year, but I didn't. Well...not in my mind anyway. I'm sure my mother would disagree and show me the many items she would have gleefully hung on the fridge over the course of the year that would put your kids accomplishments to shame, but that's really not what I'm looking for.
I am looking for this year to be better.
There are lots of potential changes heading towards me like a freight train. If you know me at all, you already know I'm allergic to change - at least as far as my life's stability is concerned. What that really means is that I'm stressed to holy hell and could snap at any moment and become a mouse wielding hormonal nightmare for anyone who crosses my path. Watch out people!
So aside for the monumental amount of stress I'm under at the moment, I have still managed to come up with some resolutions for the new year. I am taking the advice that I heard on one of those morning news shows on regular TV (you know the ones that don't actually have news but they make you feel all warm inside when you watch them because the news is all bad anyway) and making smaller scale resolutions so I don't 1) stress about them, 2) can actually remember what they are next week, and 3) can actually MAYBE stick to one of them.
So here's what my plans are for the coming month...
- Limit the amount that I let other people annoy me. Right now there are a LOT of people who annoy me on a regular basis simply by existing. I'd like to reduce that annoyance. *Please note that I have no idea how I am going to do that and I am NOT suggesting that I plan to remove those people from their whiny-assed existence. However, I do see www.ihatedwightgroggel.com in my future.
- Learn to use my new Nikon D3000 camera. I got this lovely new DSLR camera and I have no freakin' clue how to use it. I HAVE THE INSTRUCTIONAL DVD! So I should be a pro in no time...
- Get off the "Land of IF". One way or another I want this resolved. If you don't know what I'm talking about, see here.
- Get more creative on a daily basis. I want an inspiration board or something like that where I can easily display and reference creative ideas and have them in sight for the bulk of my time at my desk. I guess I need to start collecting creative things first?
- Get my digital life organized. I want one or two calendars and not 5! I want my personal calendar on my phone so I can reference it whenever, and I'd like to get my emails there too. I know these things are easy to set up, blah blah blah, I just haven't yet.
- Get my freelance work in order, including my website. I'm half-way through this one. I just need to set aside a couple of days to build out the rest of my theme and the gallery and I should be good to go. I've got several new sites and concepts to add to the gallery so when it is complete, it should be just a little bit impressive. (Hey Mom! That means more stuff for the fridge!)
Hopefully this isn't too ambitious. Hopefully I'm still employed at the end of the month, and hopefully I have left the land of IF so maybe, just maybe, I can have a good nights sleep for once. Oh wait...I'd need earplugs for that. Resolution #7: Buy earplugs.
Happy New Year internet. Make it a good one!
