An Experiment in Restraint

This week we moved out of the corporate housing apartment and into our own cozy two bedroom apartment down the street.

For the next three months I will be calling this place "home." And I will be using finger quotes every time I call it "home."

While I like to think that I can survive in any space, this is going to take some effort. I haven't cooked a meal, other than kraft dinner type stuff, in a month and a half. The kitchen in this apartment is barren and my kitchen collective is still on the east coast.

Yeah - I Think I Can Live Here...

The move to Cali is well underway at this point. The last time I wrote anything, I was stuck in a hotel room, stir-crazy from the lack of light, proper food, and rest.

This time around, it's quite an improvement.

This photo is from my last plane ride west. We're chasing the sunset over the Rocky Mountains. Lovely, isn't it?

Living in a Hotel Sucks.

It's the end of my second week in San Jose and I've been living in a hotel room and out of a suitcase for the last 12 days.

Can I just tell you...it sucks.

The closest I've gotten to a healthy meal was some instant oatmeal I had one day last week and a couple of pieces of free fruit that gets delivered periodically to the office (it's a nice little perk, don't get me wrong).

Do You Know the Way to San Jose?

There are big changes coming to the southernfried household.

A couple of weeks ago, AOL decided that my services were no longer required. Rather, they would not be needed after I stick around for 30 days and do what I'm supposed to do for them.

Kind of awkward - I know!

No matter - I suppose, if you want to look on the bright side of things, I got an extra 30 days that a lot of people didn't get. Too bad the WARN Act didn't kick in (that's a whole other rant).
